SACO100A-Sample Concentrator
Overview
The SACO100A is a nitrogen blowdown sample concentrator that uses a high-purity aluminum block with PID control to heat tubes uniformly while directing dry N2 across the liquid surface. Parallel evaporation shortens turnaround for residue analysis, food & environmental testing, and pharmaceutical QC.
Working principle
A warmed block plus directed nitrogen reduces the boundary layer and boosts mass transfer at the surface. Needles are positioned a few millimeters above the liquid to drive evaporation without bubbling or aerosolization. Temperature, total flow, and time are controlled for consistent endpoints.
Applications
- Concentration of SPE/elution fractions prior to GC/LC.
- Pesticide, mycotoxin, veterinary drug, and general residue workflows.
- Food/flavor extracts; environmental water/soil eluates.
- General solvent removal with parallel throughput and temperature control.
Operation (quick start)
- Select the proper block insert (tube diameter) and preheat to set temperature.
- Load tubes; set the timer (1–99 h 59 min or continuous ∞).
- Lower needles so tips are ~5–10 mm above the liquid surface.
- Open the regulator and set total N2 flow; fine-tune if rows are split.
- Monitor volume; adjust temperature/flow to avoid bumping or splashing.
- At endpoint, close gas, lift needles, and remove tubes with PPE.

Installation & safety
- Operate under a fume hood; handle flammable/toxic solvents with care.
- Supply dry, oil-free nitrogen with regulator and flowmeter; check fittings regularly.
- Wetted parts: stainless-steel needles and PTFE tubing (verify solvent compatibility).
Maintenance
- Clean/replace needles periodically; inspect O-rings and tubing.
- Verify flow stability and temperature calibration at routine intervals.
- Keep the block free of spills and debris to preserve uniformity.
